If anyone had told me beforehand that Cody would be put into that scene—five other dogs, crowds of people and traffic, LOUD trains and whistles—and wouldn’t either freak out or go into some catatonic state, I’d have wondered about that person’s sanity. But with your instruction, and L’s work, he did fine. Amazing.
You probably hear this all the time, but speaking as a veteran of the teaching trade, let me say you’re a master teacher! I know my way around a classroom, but I only had to teach one species (though a wild one: (college students), while you have to teach two!

Dack was rescued at 6 months and we needed to understand his behaviors, to help him feel safe within our family. He was a skittish dog, who likes to “act tough” to cover up being super scared. We started with Rick Shilling and after the first session, we learned how to understand Dack’s behaviors. Rick gave us simple direct training commands to help us make Dack feel more secure within our home and also when he goes into public spaces. The immediate success for Dack has been immeasurable. He is a more confident dog who trusts us in all situations. We never would’ve learned this if it weren’t for the guidance of Detection Dogs, Rick and his four legged friends who always accompany him.

Rick exposed both dogs to a myriad of experiences, from interacting with new people and dogs to encountering horses and alpacas. He took them everywhere, from coffee shops, the barber shop, Home Depot, Tractor Supply, Horse Shows and even included each dog in training weekends with working dogs. This extensive exposure has made both dogs incredibly well-adjusted and adaptable to various environments. Both of my dogs graduated from Rick’s program earning AKC K9 Good Citizen certifications after passing a rigorous test by a third-party evaluator!
Best of all , Rick integrated each dog into his own home environment, ensuring that each one would transition seamlessly into our home!!
